Genre: Historical; Mystery & Suspense; Romance
Kindle Price: $2.99
You can’t hide from the past.
Queen’s world was shattered, and she was banished to a foreign land. Years pass before she dares to return, but what she finds is of little comfort. Greed and dishonesty have festered and grown in her absence. Embittered and cynical, Queen trusts few people.
Owen pursues a clandestine investigation and finds himself working side-by-side with a veritable ghost, an agent few have seen, a master of disguise known simply as Queen. He craves her trust…but then uncovers a secret from his family’s past that could destroy her.
Queen once sought refuge in America and now seeks it in disguise. Owen has always found his refuge in God, but will his faith be strong enough for the challenges ahead? Can he convince her to stop hiding, or is he doomed to become her most hated enemy?
Life in the agency leaves little room for matters of the heart but when Owen meets “Queen”, he vows to never leave her side. His eagerness to see her safe and protected was touching. I felt his heartbreak when he discovered the sorted details that entangled their pasts. The past that makes it hard for Queen to trust.
I am now kicking myself for not reading the first 2 in the series. This story was quite intriguing as well as holding plenty of mystery. More mystery for the characters than me, but that was just fine. I hated putting it down each night and couldn’t wait to grab it the next day. The story was smooth and the love was sweet. ( I want more Red and Maggie. Is it in an earlier book?)
Thank you, MS. Gray for this beautiful story.
About the Heather
Heather Gray loves coffee, God, her family, and laughter – not necessarily in that order! She writes approachable characters who, through the highs and lows of life, find a way to love God, embrace each day, and laugh out loud right along with her. Her books almost always include someone who’s infatuated with coffee, too. Some things just can’t be helped. Heather delights in creating characters who, like her, have their share of faults and foibles, characters who are flawed…but loved anyway.
